CAT-Admission Procedure

CAT entrance exam is held by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) every year on rotation basis. IIM, Ahmedabad has organised it this year. Common Admission Test is a national level entrance examination which is conducted to provide admissions in the MBA professional programme and its specializations. Many other institutions consider the CAT score card for providing admission into their MBA programmes. CAT 2021/2022 Admission

Every IIM will shortlist the candidates for further stages of selection which will be independent of each previous process. Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI) will be included in the admission process.CAT 2021/2022 written examination is required for the admission process. IIMs will consider some candidates' work experience, previous academic performance and other criteria when selecting and ranking the candidates. At various stages of the admission process, the candidate’s performance shall be analysed. The processes, academic CAT 2021 cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may differ across IIMs.

CAT 2021/2022 Admission Procedure Schedule

The result of CAT 2021/2022 was declared on the website on 2nd January 2022. 

 The list of selected candidates for the next stages of selection will be provided on the website of the respective IIMs. Each IIM will send interview letters to the selected candidates directly.

The criteria for selecting the candidates will differ from IIM to IIM. Candidates must visit the admission portal of the respective websites of IIMs for further information.


Eligibility Verification Procedure


If a candidate is selected for interviews by any IIM, she/he must go through the eligibility verification:


  • Mark sheets and Degree Certificate: A candidate must produce all the mark sheets and attested copies to prove her/his eligibility at the time of the interview. If a candidate is shortlisted for a programme, original degree certificate and mark sheets of all semesters/years along with their attested copies is required to be submitted for verification at the time of admission.
  • Reservation Category: Reserved category candidates must show the original caste/class/ disability certificate along with a photocopy when they are called for interview. When a student is shortlisted for a programme then she/he must provide the original certificate of qualifying degree with an attested copy of the same to be submitted for verification when they are called for attending the programme. 
  • Final Year Graduates: Final year bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination must produce the original certificate from the Principal / Registrar / Director of the university/ institution certifying that the candidate has obtained 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of reserved categories). They will be required to submit an attested copy of the original certificate at the time of interview.
  • For the Post Graduate Programmes: If shortlisted candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, they must submit a certificate from the Principal / Registrar of their University/institution. The final admission will be provided when original mark sheet and qualifying degree certificate of passing the bachelor’s degree will be submitted.
