Loyola College is a piece of the Catholic Minority Institution, which was set up by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1925 and turned into an independent school in the year 1978. The school is associated to the University of Madras and re-licensed by NAAC with a score of 3.70 out of 4.00 CGPA. Moreover, UGC granted the status of "School with potential for Excellence" to Loyola College in 2004 and 2010.
