Eligibility
Criteria
Bachelor of
Design (B.Des. )
- All applicants for the
B.Des Program need to meet the following requirements:
Maximum Age
- General Category for
Indian Nationals and General EWS Category: Only candidates who were born after the
1 July 2002 can apply to admission.
- Indian Nationals in
Reserved Categories (Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layers (OBC-NCL),
Scheduled caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST): Only candidates who were born after 1
July 1999 can apply
- Indian Nationals in the
PwD Reserved category: Only
candidates who were born after 1 July 1997 can apply for admission.
- Foreign Nationals in
Overseas (Supernumerary). Category: Only
candidates who were born after the 1 July 2002 can apply for admission.
Educational
Qualification
- Candidates who have or
will appear in higher secondary (10+2) qualifying exams in the academic
year 2021-22, in any stream (Sciences, Arts, Commerce and Humanities, etc. Any
recognized board of education, such as CBSE/IB, ICSE, ICSE or the
equivalent.
- These examinations are
considered equivalent to the following:
- Final examination of the
10+2 system, under a central board or state board recognized by the
Association of Indian Universities. Refer to www.aiuweb.org
- Final exam of the
two-year Joint Services Wing course at the National Defence Academy
- Exam for senior secondary
school under the National Institute of Open Schooling. At least five
subjects are required.
- Any examination taken in
India by any public board, school or university, or equivalent to the 10+2
system, is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Candidates
- Foreign Citizens-applicants who are citizens of another country
than India can apply for citizenship under the overseas (supernumerary),
provided they meet all eligibility requirements.
Eligibility to
Master of Design (M.Des).
- All applicants for the
M.Des. All applicants for the M.Des. Program (any discipline) must
meet both the following requirements:
Maximum Age
- Indian Nationals in
General Category and General EWS categories: Candidates born after 01 July
2022 can apply for admission.
- Indian Nationals in Reserved
Categories (OBC-NCL SC & ST), are only eligible to apply for admission
if they were born after the 1 July 1988.
- Indian Nationals with
Disabilities (PwD), Reserved Category: Candidates born after the 1 July
1997 can apply for admission.
- Foreign Nationals in
Overseas Category (Supernumerary): Candidates born after 1 July 2022 will
not be eligible for admission.
Educational
Qualification
- Candidates who have taken
or are scheduled to take the higher secondary (10+2) qualifying exam in
academic year 2021-22 in any stream of Science, Arts, Commerce, Economics,
Humanities, etc., can apply for academic year 2022-23. Any recognized
board of education, such as CBSE/IB, ICSE and equivalent
Examinations
These are considered equivalent to the following:
- Final Exam of the 10+2
system, under a Central or State Board that is recognized by the
Association of Indian Universities. Pre-University Intermediate Exam
or two-year exam under a Board of Universities recognized by the
Association of Indian Universities
- Final exam of the
two-year Joint Services Wing course at the National Defence Academy
- Senior Secondary School
Examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling. At least five
subjects are required
- Any examination taken in
India by any public school, board or university.
- H.S.C. H.S.C.

programmes at NID.

Admit Card
- Admit Cards will be
available for download on the NID website www.admissions.nid.edu as
per the schedule
- Candidates are
responsible for downloading and printing their Admit Cards. Only
shortlisted candidates will receive the admit card for DAT Mains.
